Winery Names Mark Beringer Winemaker

VALLEY, California - February 05, 2009 - Artesa
Vineyards & Winery is pleased to announce the appointment
of Mark Beringer as its Vice President, Winemaking
Operations. Beringer comes to Artesa after spending 14 years
at Duckhorn Wine Company, first as an enologist then rising
quickly to become the Director of Winemaking. He was named Winemaker
of the Year in 2005 by the San Francisco Chronicle for his work
at Duckhorn Vineyards.
A graduate of California State University, Fresno, Mr. Beringer
began his career at Raymond Vineyards in Napa Valley as a cellar
worker. Since that time he has garnered two Winery of the Year
titles from Connoisseurs Guide to California Wine, has been
named four times Regional Winery of the Year by Wine & Spirits
Magazine and had the #6 rated wine of the year in the Wine Spectator's
Top 100 of 2002 with the Duckhorn Vineyards 1999 Napa Valley
Cabernet Sauvignon. Recipient of the 2005 V Foundation Vintner's
Grant, Mr. Beringer is a Napa native and a descendent of Beringer
Vineyards founder, Jacob Beringer. He is the third generation
of his family to make wine in California.
